Since no proven science on this filament, I will vote based on enhanced coloration and headgrowth:-

QUOTE(ranchu8 @ Fri, 16 Dec 2005 1:07 am) er, isn't it rather difficult to give views without "before experiment" photos? ps off topic but your baskets b and d can go for tvr participation Halo ranchu8 I have only before pictures of SV before they are thrown into the experiment but as for the TVR in Sept all have just discolored and all started with natural pale yellow as in all BBR at this stage. So for TVR at this stage it rather difficult to assess whether they have benefitted from the algae consumption as some maybe fed while others may not (Clue?) When I reveal the result in due course perhaps I will subject those that were not part of the experiment to the algae treatment and then I can share with you the findings of whether the benefits are significant. |

Hi Goldrush, i don't think i have keen enough eyes to give a view on the question, but imo the fish have been growing well also, the tvr look much better than previously

Ok finally the results are out.As only 5 members responded in the participation we can't possibly derive much from this experiment neither can we conclude convincingly the findings.Nevertheless I try to decipher what is available from the received data. Most would use color as the only feature to compare the outcome.
As seen from the data sheet 10 fishes were examined and put through the test.7 were fed with algae and only 3 are not fed.(not 5 ,5 as expected)All 3 not fed with algae were from SV and all of the presented TVR were fed. From the input from participating members most score 80% and above except for 1 obvious sore thumb scoring a mere 50(wat happen cp?) Desireless had the best score with 9 out of 10 (Give him a big )while all three matrix, bluk and gohks did equally well with 80% score. All have no problem in spoting basket D,F and J with the correct answer.Only desireless seems to agree basket B are fed while the rest failed to recognise this.G and H gave mixed reactions.Another interesting finding is Desireless fail only in the basket (basket I )which most agreed it was fed. So I leave the rest for others to draw their own conclusion from the attached limited biodata. |

wah liao ... if not that itchy hand go edited the "before" pick, i would hv got 10/10 ... 8/10 also good lah ** sh*t load of excuses ** Actually H is a difficult decision. The fish does not show anything near to a fish with special feeding. Only the color giving that 50-50 confidence.
B is very interesting. Probably a before-after pic will give better assessment. Only Desireless got it right. The only hint I got is the coloration, but not strong enough to give a clear Y sign. ok ... buy system 10, kenna 8 ... Group 2 winning leh ... share with 3 people. How much har ? |

Perhaps filament not a factor affecting this. Anyway just for the fun of it! 3 |

As a spin-off from the algae experiment,I have included a segment of what this experiment further reveals.Basket B is one of my Sekiya which if you can remember I had presented them in my Sekiya journey .I have included a picture of the three taken on 9/11/05 (as requested by the Matrix)before they were separated and subjected to the algae experiment.Only the red and white was given the algae meal while the other are not subjected to the diet.About 90 odd days later the trios had their fotos taken again. If you can notice the red and white has bulked ,increased in girth and its headgrowth is more significant. Is it an one-off reaction or does algae really enhance the overall physiques and well being of the fish involved that I’ll leave it up to you for your own interpretation.
