Guys,

As this fish was sold by the distributor of Tung Hoi in Malaysia, it was claimed to be worth a substantial large some of money. Would you go this far & deep into your pockets to purchase this fella??? rusure.gif

Roughly how big is it?

The same thing happened about a year ago, one aquarium here was selling a ryukin for 18K SGD. Not in this life would I pay that much for a goldfish.

Hi bro chochiss,

Well, I definitely agree with Desireless. I won't pay thousands of dollars only for a goldfish.
As long as I witnessed by myself, the highest amount to be paid for a goldfish was US$ 5,000. It was paid by a friend of mine for a Ishikawa female nisai. And it passed away after 2 months on his hands. death.gif prayer.gif
I've also heard many goldfish hobbyist paid more than that value for a goldfish.

For me, it is more valuable to have our own offsprings and then raise them into wonderful fish. fish2.gif
Of course, it is acceptable to collect such good (or maybe excellent) goldfish seeds but certainly not at that much price.

Well, it's only my opinion. No offense at all bro. peace.gif

Thanks

Is that really a ryukin? Well, it is, but not much to say about the ideal ryukin conformation, eh? Looks like it's been injected with botox biggrin.gif

Correct me if I'm wrong is this the new breed with that sparkling kingirin scale that give that metallic sheen?
This piece may not exhibit the typical ideal ryukin physiques but surely the color, the rare metallic sheen and iits sheer volume are enough to compensate for the former deficiency.
Wats the asking price???? sweatingbullets.gif

Yup. It's a new breed of ryukin whereby the emphasis is not some much on the muscular aspect but rather the short & tall body structure with wen on it's head. The sparkling kingirin scale have 2 types of base coat color. One is normal while the other will the lemon base with some very light orange coloration that won't get darker but will turn out to be more of a albino lemon coloration. I've acquired for a smaller piece, but then the price is still sky high! wleow.gif biggrin.gif

VIP room ? Must be FengShui lah. Nice cozy room ...

Can consider a new breed but already show case some 2 yrs ago where the 1st piece I came across really attract me. But for the past months, the lineage I observe dun look stable. There are few farms that breed this color and scale type.

Problem is that the wen tends to over grown too much causing the head to look weird. Large ryukin does have wen but not so big lah. Anyway as long as dun look too weird I am fine with it.

This piece in the pic dun worth 10K lah ... If this size with a tung hoi signature broad tail, 10K is cheap liao.

Guess noone yet to see this coloration with Albino eyes yet right ? biggrin.gif

Chochiss - you are right. It really depends on the eye of the beholder, but also if the salesman is able to give a convincing story, they can justify the value of any fish!

As CNY is approaching in HK, they are gearing for a push of red/white goldfishes. However, Ryukins are falling out of popularity here. Is that the same in Singapore?

How about red cap oranda in HK now?? Since CNY is approaching, red cap seems to be some what sellable.....my observation on LFS only. Well in M'sia, ryukin is still a premium as this fish brings great importance to Chinese Goldfishes so the price is still quite steep. No sure about SG.
