what does that mean??? I just want to clean out the crap. lol your mate, Joe ha ha... I understand.. if you want crystal clear water you need very strong biological filtration and a good mechanical filtration and current that circulates the water so the debris are brought to the mechanical filter. First of all my answer was clumsy. I should ask you the size of the tank and the number of fish that you have in the tank. Sump filters should readily be available to you in UK. If not you can built one. They are both biological and mechanical filtration. However they come with bio plastic balls and they don't do a good job. So you will have to replace these plastic balls with either small Lava Rocks or small ceramic bio rings. Since sump filters' over flow box is located on the top of the tank you need a good strong and long stream of aeration near the bottom of the tank under the over flow box to bring the crap to the over flow box. Trust me you won't see a single poop on the bare bottom tank if you set up that way. Always do over filtration. If your tank is 55 Gallons use 320 Gallons sump filter. etc... For a 55 to 72 G tank If you use Ehiem 2229 which is a wet dry filter, you will need another mechanical filter. So you will have to set up like Aqua clear 110. Monitor your PH and buffer regularly. Don't let it drop below 7.0. Hope this helps. |
