I was googling and came across this unusual (to me) goldfish at a Japanese web site.
![]() It has the head of a top-view ranchu but a butterfly tails. There's a dorsal fin on the ranchu-like body; I wonder how it looks from the side. I can't read Japanese, but here's the page with more goldfishes I've never seen before. ![]() |

JK Aquatic has two top-view calico Oranda, very similar to those in the above photo!
One is about 8-9 inches (including the long tails) while the other with a more rounded head and about 5 inches costs $500 and $300 respectively. They look really nice. JK also have another variety of goldfish which unfortunately I cannot name as I have not seen them before. They are calico but single tailed. Looks like huge feeder goldfish but being from Japan I'm sure they are expensive goldfish that I don't know how to appreciate. Go take a look; they are housed at the backyard tubs. As a courtesy, do ask for permission before you go inside. I also saw in the backyard a topview ranchu with a massive headgrowth, under treatment for Dropsy. Sad. They are using yellow powder but I don't know if it's BeFuran or the Japanese Yellow Powder. This post has been edited by Fatallan: Fri, 19 Dec 2003 4:08 pm |
