Propose brew green water in 2ft tank project
1. 23.5" x 11.5" x 13" fiveplan brand tank 2. 51.81 litres of water (13.71 gallons of water), around 12.5" depth of water 3. 2ft DIY PL lights with 2 36W OSRAM tubes and e-ballast 4. Simple sponge filter to collect goldfish poos 5. Wooden air block for aeration 6. 2 4.5" to 6" ranchus Is it possible to brew green water in 2ft tank rather than tub? I've all the equipment with me except the PL lights which I've yet to collect from a bro who help DIY PL lights. Will switch on the PL lights non-stop for 3-4 days or until the green water turn dark green? |

A friend was telling me he was feeling kinda stupid as he now keeps all his goldfish in green water tubs. The end result is he has nice goldfish that he hardly sees. He's resetting up his glass tank as a "showroom" and would rotate his collection. Meanwhile visibly check your fishes right after water change. Is your ammonia level high? If not, there's no need for a filter. Avoid it if you can since it would produce nitrate as a by product. Although relatively harmless at low quantity, it still can't beat a zero count. If the ammonia level is high, I would rather either increase the lighting, or reduce the stock load. I must confess I use an internal powered filter too... but only to polish the water. Yeah, I like my green water sparkling clean and free of floating debris. If it happens to collect some poos, even better. I run it once a day for no more than 15 minutes. The filter wool is discarded after use; no chance for bb to cultivate at all. I would describe the cleaned intensely green water... liquid jade. |
