Hi guys,
I'm new here and I've tried making green water. Can u guys comment if i'm on the right track here? Set up is a 55 litre plastic tub filled with about 30 litre dechlor water (i used Stress coat, the one with aloe vera in it, does the aloe vera affects the cultivation at all?), 2 feeder fish each about 10-12 cm long, a new airstone, and a little 8 wat "daylight" bulb to keep the light going at night time. I put the tub outside under a uv filtered plastic shading and it received sunlight about 9-10 hours a day. On the first 7 days there was no reaction at all, meaning the water was fairly clear and never got to the stage of "murkiness" in desireless' indoor green water cultivation method. But by the 8th day suddenly the poo became dispersed and debris started floating around much like day 3-6 of desireless' pictures. By the 9th day green tinge started to appear. the rest u guys can see from the pics: Day 8 Day 9 Day 11 What do u guys think? cheers & thx a lot |

I've managed to grow some greenwater (about 30 litre in volume) and intend to have it as the seed for a bigger tub i'm going to set up (about 120-130 litre volume, max 20 cm deep). The tub is going to be placed outdoors.
My question is is it ok to put one or two sponge filters (y'know, the one that needs air bubbles to operate) with the greenwater or is it enough just using a couple of airstones? If using sponge filters, I'm planning to wash the sponge clean once a week (during water change) in order to prevent the BB from establishing & competing with the green water for nutrients. Thx in advance for the help |
