"Coelacanth" (pronounced as see-la-kanth) is a prehistoic fish that existed 400 millions years ago. Interestingly, a few were caught by fishermen in the last century. They were mostly found Comoro Islands. About 4 were caught off Sulawesi, Indonesia. I was watching Channel U in which one taiwanese artiste goes to Indonesia in search of this fish. I was laughing in disbelief that they actually had a budget for such mission impossible. |

The last of this fish found in Indonesia and documented was in 1999. This guy typically rushes to Indonesia hoping to find the fish alive. And he actually expects to find it in just one trip. It will be an insult to the scientists who went there and came back empty handed many times
I was thinking if he can go there and find one so easily then the fish is not rare anymore. BTW, there is a video clip on this dinofish site which I find to be quite faked... Direct Link: http://www.dinofish.com/cimages/Coel1.mpg Too clear to be true |
