i've search through this forum and have no luck finding any info about fish's age. I was wondering how can we tell fish's age depending on their size?? Is the any standard size = particular age?. I assume different bread such as Ryukin and ranchu may have slight different in size. Ranchu would be slightly longer than ryukin. How can me compare the two fishes and tell their age?? --> (apple vs lemon)

Well for those fish you got when they are near maturity is hard to find out the age, unless you do your own breeding. I once checked with a LFS on the age of the fish but yield no clear answer (don't think they will know as most fishes are imported without a birthcert tongue.gif , not like Arowana which comes with certificate).
I remember reading somewhere the scientific way of finding out the age of a fish is thorugh examining the no. of rings found on the fish scales. Maybe experts here can shade further lights on this topic. uhm.gif

Wah sei ... you doing your homework. Yes, scale line is like cross section tree truck line to determine the age. However, might not be as accurate as the documentation of such measurement is not well defined. With over 3 major varieties, 600+ sub variations, not going to be easy.
