ok let me initiate the post mortem for this year event from my personal point of view.First let me congratulate all VRC members for a job well done and took pains in bringing in world renowned judges for the event.Like what I had highlighted in my retrospective view last year some of these have not been met.One salient drawback was the amount of public attendance which one word summarised the atmosphere.....PATHETIC.I think the public turn out has been a disappointment.I think the mistake was to left out the advertisement of the event in our local papers on the previous day and the day itself .The last reminder was sometime back and perhaps the general public and many of us need constant reminding.
Another missing was the question and answer exchange which members or public are allowed to ask foreign dignitaries their view ,cultivation and improvement needed for their keeping.Perhaps the judges should give a public feed back on why a particular fish was chosen as champion, its strength, merits and disposition so we can learn from the criterias required, points awarded and features to look out for.Future participants will benefit from the judges criterias as the evolution of the standards of appreciation has to be kept in tandem if not they maybe make to believe what they keep or show are of show standards! I am not too sure of benching in problem as I was among the earliest so no Sunday morning crowd but the bench out was not very smooth flowing ,poorly cordinated and needs more attention. Many fishes were bagged but not oxygenated immediately but left in their tanks waiting to be distributed according to queue numbers. This year the trophies were not very impressive perhaps of budget constraint but the finishing left much to be desired.Another award can be in the form of certificate for their respective class with the judges certification that a certain fish has been conferred the title of ........or attain and met the criteria of satisfaction and been awarded the position of......... The above are some of my observations and recommendation and I leave it for the VRC committee to look into them for further discussion. with regards goldrush |
