QUOTE(desireless @ Tue, 28 Feb 2006 9:50 pm) desireless, Did you measure the temp of the water? I tried having more PL lights for my tank and realized that temp went as high as > 34C... especially in the day time. Not sure will there be any harm if temp goes too high |

QUOTE(gohks @ Wed, 01 Mar 2006 12:03 pm) desireless, Did you measure the temp of the water? I tried having more PL lights for my tank and realized that temp went as high as > 34C... especially in the day time. Not sure will there be any harm if temp goes too high It is usually 29oC. At most 30. 34 is ok too as long as the temp swing for your tank is gradual, such that it won't stress your fish. Chiller is totally unnecessary. I don't trim the algae. I cleared the front part to allow taking photo and video. Other than that I usually leave it as it is. My tank is never scenic This is a short video to the wall algae: Direct Link: http://www.rafflesgold.com/desireless/MOV06382.wmv I stopped at 3 points: 1) Never trim. Notice it is very very "bushy" as it is near light source. The long fluffy algae looks like tentacles and swings with the water. 2) Never trim. Not so bushy as it always gets eaten. Can notice the algae also swings with the water flow. 3) Newly-grown for 1 week plus. Notice the new "thin fine hair" PS: Ya, I know it sounds lewd... but how else can I explain this? |
