I have to admit I got a soft spot for calicos, and this one did not escape my fancy. biggrin.gif

A good 5 inch across its length, the red patch across its face is the only blemish on an otherwise uniformly colored fish.I have included a video and some static shots for all to appreciate.

Incidentally this fish resembles another fish which I have shown earlier with that atypical oblique red across the face. yes.gif

First a video

Some close up shots

Hi Doc...

I have recently purchased a calico oranda...(though nothing of high grade..since it Oz, its got a fault in its tail) mainly it would help me develop my skills in keeping calico.

you mentioned they are sensitive and could loose their black streaks on their fins.....i was wondering do you keep your calicos indoor or outdoors. Coz mine would be kept at this stage indoors with 8hrs of lighting. Could this effect their color?

At the moment my calico ranchus are outdoor and calico ryukins are housed indoor.Though light play a part in enhancing and developing its color, water conditions are equally important.I find the calico loosing its lustre and colors faster in poor water conditions. If you can get all your criterias right,I'm sure you will be rewarded with vivid display of rich and magnificent colors of this colorful breed.
