QUOTE(goldfish Lover @ Wed, 23 Mar 2005 10:30 am)
When I was dating my wife, at that time I was only earning $250/- a month. I sent her a bouquet of flowers to her office costing $60/- on her birthday. I am not sure if she was happy or not, but she told me not to waste money sending flowers.

Ever since then, I only give her one stock of rose on her birthday. She always say I never send her flowers. Very blurr!!!!!!

Please englighten. Thanks

Enlightenment is here.

$60/250 = 23% of your salary goes to the flowers - of cos touched lah... but also paisey u spend so much on it - like 23% of salary u know.

Now, situation better liow mah... so can afford to spend more... all the toys for fishes = more than $60 right... so now cannot save $$ - must spend abit more than 1 stalk of rose lah....

but then again, start slowly ok, dun suddenly suddenly give her one big fat bouquet, She might get supicious - unsure if you did something wrong *LOL*

" Women - Full of contradiction !"

But it is always nice to get flowers - be it sunflowers, daisies or roses, one always enjoy receiving surprises and of cos a chance for others to envy them. LOL!

Yeah, it works for guys too... New age women also buy flowers for their Bfs! smile.gif

G'luck!

Thanks for your comments!!!!!

Actually not so true. On several occasions I spend more than $10K++ on a diamond ring which is almost my salary, another time $8k+ on a Rolex and $10K +++ on a set of jade jewellery. More than my salary and still complain I never buy her presents. What can I do. Got 3 grown up kids and a house mortgage to take care. Every month got not enough to buy goldfish. Only can go to Rainbow Aquarium every week to spot for the cheapo $3/- goldfish and eat at the coffee shop next door. CNY cannot afford to buy new cloths, still wearing my old cloths. Ha ha I like this one.

As for the gflover flowers bit ... $60 in those days, you bought 999 roses or what.

I love flowers, but my wife don't fancy, so don't give to her give myself. As for goldfish I suggest a mixture with white lilies it give a more organic feel. Roses are a little too predictable, maybe that is what she is trying to say. The problem with woman is what they say is not what they mean most of the time.

I am not rich. These are the main gifts for my wife over the last 20 years. You see my wife still complain that I don't buy her presents. As my kids grow up, the lesser money I have. Rely so much on OD. Don't know how to pay back the bank sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif .

Alamak!, one more thing to share. Whenever my wife make a bet with me, she will always say "If you loose you owe me a diamond ****** etc., if I loose, I owe you a kiss. "Born looser!!!! cry.gif "

Talking about $$ - the mentality should be debt-free ASAP.
Eating Kopi tiam is ok - especially now a days everyone eat outside.

Buying diamonds - not an investment. Rolex - hmm, not sour grapes, if you buy one to mark a special occasion, I agree it is ok, don't collect them like too much money no where to go... my pocket very empty can come this way.
What irks me the most is that those folks buy liow, 3 yrs down the road and comment, that the model you bought, the price increase -- so what?

Are you going to resell that watch? Nope right? -- then why compare the prices?? ok, this is a sore topic for my BF and I. ROLEX guns.gif

Another thing, now a days there are Fake diamonds with plated white-gold on silver, they looked pretty real. Buy big big one, drop liow won't heart pain - Where? Novena Square - the store/booth is open-air, at the previous info counter location. Just infront of Burger King.

My best friend husband, bought a pair of diamond earrings and clipped them ontop the ears of a Toy JRT dog and then presented to her. Sooo sweet!! good_very.gif

So presentation presentation presentation and find alternatives ;)

Alamak! I not marketing man. Also not Designer or A & P guru. How to give good presentation??????

You see, my wife's birthday, I pay for her present (must be branded) and Dinner(high-class) on me. Mind you now got kids (actually quite big now), so 5 mouths to feed. When my birthday come, my present (Ayam brand share wife and children share, pocket money still come from me) and I still pay for the Dinner, only this time I insist on eating at "Kopitiam". Excuse is that I like the curry fish head (actually broke). $500/- against $50/- for the dinner. "WOMAN Sigh!!!!!!"

Hey that's interesting, I did that with the first edition Robo dog and gave my wife her first gold bracelet. ( I don't like anything that is gold but came across this beautiful one ). Anyway my eldest was 2 yrs old at that time, so the dog had a wig entered the room on my command on christmas day together with my whole family all in all about 15 people. So the dog did a song and dance, my daughter was thrilled. The finale, the dog shake its head and drop the wig revealling the bracelet. All these while, my wife was disinterested as she got used to crab from me and my ideas... until the shiny bracelet. She was thrilled and I had peace for a good 15 days.

Every month must come out with 2 good idea very "siong". Must employ some design company to help out. But, come to think of it, if every 15 ays come out with a new idea, it becomes very routine. Will loose its luster.
