I remembered Whitehorse’s posting, not too long ago of his “cheap” acquisition of a similar fated fish and would like to share a few pics of my own. From the top this fish fails miserably as a TV but from the side the smooth arch and angled tail ,in my opinion somehow change my criticism for it.So I decided to give this piece a second chance. For just under $20.00 and about 2 and1/2 inch would you have given this piece a chance?

Yes they may never be champions
But i like to bring the best out of these drop-outs To be at least acceptable in our "goldfish" society To me that is my greatest challenge and feat What do you expect from a shoe- string budget firm against the likes of multi million mega store. We have to work within our means to harness their potentials given what we have ,within our limits and achieve something we can be proud of as well as acceptable by our peers. There are many more things to learn from goldfish keeping than grooming them to be show winners. Anymore cull cult members out there? : |

This mentality is an indication of a higher level achieved in goldfish keeping. I personally like to see hobbyists making this move.
The lowest level in goldfish keeping is to struggle at "how to make my goldfish survive", which every hobbyist need to pass through. Yet, many hobbyists choose to stop at this level. Of this group, many would spend hugh money buying good fishes but because their keeping skills are not there, these beautiful fishes eventually die. These hobbyists then spend more money buying more good fishes, which die again shortly after. It soon becomes a frequent cycle and there comes a time when they conclude "Goldfishes are very hard to keep", and they give the hobby up. To be able to groom fish is of a higher attainment in goldfish keeping, provided you need to have learnt the basics, of course It is not saying that everyone should start buying lousy fishes and in hope to groom them. It requires skills and one needs to be exposed to many fishes and acquired the "skilled eyes" to see if a fish is worthy of the time and effort to groom it. From doc's experience, I hope everyone can enjoy the satisfaction of grooming goldfish. |

Time for everyone to CULLTIVATE your fish to their potentials with your respective CULLINARY skills and not just concentrate on CULLNINLINGUS.
