While I was at Superstar the other day, I came across this food and immediately drawn my attention
http://www.tropical.com.pl/eng_foods/eng_p...-vegetable.html Before I went away for a 7 days vacation, I threw in a tank surface full of duckweed and a handful of skinless peas. I estimated the duckweed would be consumed in 2 days, so my fish will only need to fast for a good 4 days. From this experience, what I found out is my fish is obviously thinner, but my water parameters are great, nitrate level was like only 10-20ppm. So a thought came into my mind ... vege is the way to go for the water. So now I'm trying this food, a spoonful of the flake each feed and I give 4 spoonful of this flake and 10 pellets of the Lionhead. What do you guys think? |

QUOTE(CyberET @ Thu 17 Jun 2004 11:19 AM) an autofeeder would solve the problem $17 nia If you are refering to the time during my vacation. I do have one and decided to not use it during that time... murphy's law applies. I also noted the fasting do some good and within 2 days my fish regain the fattiness in terms of look. When you stop smoke and restart you smoke more ... when you go on a diet and then slide off that program you put on more weight. Does the logic applies? |

QUOTE(jhansolo @ Thu 17 Jun 2004 11:04 AM) Before I went away for a 7 days vacation, I threw in a tank surface full of duckweed and a handful of skinless peas. Goldfish can go without food for up to 2 weeks. My own experience was fasting all my fishes for 9 days. They were perfectly fine. Maybe they slim down a little but I didn't pay much attention or noticed such. The big surprise was how active they remain during that period. I was expecting them to be less active, sleepy whatever but no... they were still swimming about normally. So if I go were to go away for a short vacation, I'll just change water a day ahead and stop feeding entirely. |
