And so, yet another year has passed, yet another comp. has come to a close, and yet another empty handed one for me.........
My congratulations to all the winners, my thanks to the organisers and participants, and not forgetting the judges coming from afar to grace this event. I believe David will be posting the pics of the TVR section in due course.I understand that many RG members has done pretty well over the TVR section and let us all eagerly await David's report and pics. |

Goodness me....what gorgeous ranchus!!
I think I can spot Geert lol he "stands out" quite obviously All winners are thoroughly deserving of course, but some of the non-winners also could win some prizes. I guess it's down to the judges' personal choices. Bad luck CP & other RG entries, better luck next time Can't wait for the TVR pics!! |

The 2nd National Ranchu Competition was an amazing spectacle with entries of very high quality comparable to the previous year.It was a great honour just to be present to share with fellow ranchu hobbyists as well as to participate in this annual event. This year we were blessed with the presence of our very own RG master of TVR,Mr Geert Coopens as one of the judges of TVR.His openness, dedication and unselfish disposition have greatly inspired the closely knitted ranchu circle here and it is my wish we will continue to exchange information and learn further from him the art of ranchu appreciation and cultivation.
Another significant development this year was RG representation had a bigger share of winners compared to the previous year.A handful of RG regulars and contributors were among the trophy winners which I had already announced in my previous posting.Once again let me congratulate their effort and their participation. It is difficult for me to express the quality and beauty of the ranchus on display at the show. Many of the beautiful specimen in my opinion never made it to the winner’s podium but they were in my eyes absolutely stunning and superb and these were the eventual losers!Perhaps I still have a lot to learn about appreciation. Special thanks to cp for his relentless effort for capturing some special moments of the event as well as showing winners and losers alike. His photos say it all and make my job immensely lighter to put this perspective across. I hope everyone enjoyed the show as much as I have in putting it in writing. goldrush |

CP,
good effort but hor the pic don do justice to the fishes in display leh, better upgrade to one with good macro and IOS functions. yr cheap little one in particular was quite outstanding. u should take a good shot at it. there is another by Laser which i tot is also equally good if not better than his 3rd placing. correct me if i m wrong, i tot quite a number of SV winners are located at the upper tier tank. coincidents or parallax error problem for the lower tier. ;) |

actually, personal point of view only hor, the biggest winner is actually TVR David ... own breed, own fish, own effort and take the 3rd placing in a tosai. Dave, a few words to inspire the rest to breed own fish and compete !

Thank you CP, Mountain, Matrix, Goldrush, Desireless and all it does feel good, it's a bit difficult to sink in though ...
I would really have to acknowledge and thank Geert and Alvin for being so generous in their sharing and guidance ... really exceptional Of course not forgetting RG for facilitating this forum, allowing so many people to learn and share With everyone, the standard of top view ranchu can only go up |

QUOTE(CP @ Mon, 23 Jan 2006 9:36 am) i think it is called Image Optical Stabiliser. good for pplp with shaky hands... i believe the problem here is something to do with the conversion of image to smaller jpg file which lost some resolution as a result. |

Yes, some digicams comes with a function of "sports" mode, used to capture moving objects. This Sony of mine doesnt have the feature.
The conversion of the image size (I shoot with 5 Mpixels) before posting and the subsequent blow up of the pics again has also blurred the images, I think. |
