Which fin? It will be best if you provide picture.
Once it is folded (naturally), it will grow back folded as initially if you snip it. |

I have a goldfish in my tank which is a calico fantail. I recently noticed that part of it's tail on one side is folded over inside . Is there any way that I can sort this out . I want to get this fixed so that it can look good as it has lovely black markings and big telescope eyes . Will this eventually sort itself out?
thanks bros neuvicd89 p.s it is not fused over just folded |

don't think you can fix it...its permanent. I tried trimming the tail before but to no avail because you just cannot judge the grain of the tail.

Hi everyone. Most fish for sale in Mauritius are in a poor state and not very nice.
Most of them have folded tails and fins. Does folded tails and fins heal after some time or is it a lifetime problem ?? |

Does folded tails and fins heal after some time or is it a lifetime problem ?? Probably the hobbyist base not big enough to import better fish. If the stores carry fishes of such characteristic, then these should be pretty low quality fishes. Folded tails could be genetic, structure flaws at birth, or damages during transportation. Small chances due to keeping method. Unlikely to correct. However, if the fish is nice, small folded part at the tip of the tail is acceptable for big fish. |

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, most fish are like that here, but it will not stop me to continue keeping them ...
The goldfish imported are the leftovers from a farmer in Singapore. All the best ones are exported to countries who can afford to pay big bucks for nice fish. I can do a special order but since I am the only one 'collecting' goldfish in Mauritius, it will be too expensive |
