Ok To Add A Fish? Options

I currently have a 20 gal. tank with a 30 gal. filter. I have a small lionhead (maybe 3-4 inches). Is it ok to add just one more fish? Should I be wary oflarger sizedgoldfish to add? I am perfectly happyjust keeping my lonhead girl, Ijust wantedto check.

If you have had your lionhead in your tank for longer than 1 month, yes, you could put another goldfish in. Beause lionheads have big tails, do not go for a faster fish eg comets,shubunkins, and any other goldfish that is tropedo shaped and has a small, quick tail. They can also be called 'single tailed'. The reason is that the quicker one hogs the food and becomes a 'bully'.

now, any fish with big, puffy tails like your lionhead can be added to your tank. they will feed exactly the same and will not battle for food. I would go for a ranchu or a poeyed goldfish, or even a male lionhead so they can breed!here are some pictures of some goldfish you can add to your tank:








now, about the size of your fish. try to get the same size fish as the one you've got now, not too big (or it will be a bully) and not to small ( or your original fish will be a bully).

the rule of thumb is every fish takes up about 10l of water when fully grown, so if you had a 30l tank, you could add 3 fish, but because you have a 20l, you can only have 2.
