Hi my name is Si Han from Leeuwarden in the Netherlands.
Born and Raised in the Netherlands. My parents are Chinese, so is my wife. I only look Chinese from the outside hehe. But I speak chinese so thats something I was able to keep. I have enjoyed reading the forums of rafflesgold for quite some time now. I could get some nice tips from you guys regarding raising fancy goldfish. I have quite a few aquariums, a 340 litre tanganyika tank, 2x 275 liters tanks in my restaurant with parrot cichlids and malawi cichlids and 3 small nano tanks with shrimps. I had some success with the shrimps but I decided to sell them all because I had roughly 200+ crystal red shrimps and it was getting out of hand and took too much of my time. Had some very beautiful s grades in there too but it was better for the shrimps. 4 months ago i could get a pretty sweet deal on a large tank, 600 liters, 2 meters wide. So i bought it before figuring what to raise in it. After getting the okay from my wife i bought 10 very young side view ranchus, I plan on keeping 6 or 8. I figure some are going to be prettier then others thats why i bought more of them. The 2 or 4 that I am removing from my tank are going to my tanks in the restaurants. Not together with malawis or parrot fish ofc but ranchu only. Probably have to sell some fish to a friend of mine, hes been bugging me about the parrots for more then a year. The ranchus are growing incredibly fast, when I bought them they were about 3-5 cm and now they are almost 9 centimeters. That happened in roughly 3 months time so im quite amazed. its my first time raising fancy goldfish. My ranchus are 6-7 months old. The lfs where i got them from imported them so they were better quality then your average Dutch ranchu. When I compare my fish to his now the size difference is huge, like 2 times in length and probably 3 times in weight. So his are very stunted unfortunately. I feed my fish Hikari Lionhead, Hikari fancy goldfish, frozen blood worms, and peas. So far they are healthy, there was one with a swimbladder problem but I solved that with peas and vegetables, the benefits of owning a restaurant . I also change 90%+ weekly because the water seems to get murky really fast, maybe because the tank is new or maybe the water is growing a lot of algae. Dont mind anyway, as long as my fish are good. Anyway, long post, wanted to say what I wanted to say, hope to have fun here and learn a lot about this awesome hobby. Im off reading the forum posts i couldnt read before hehe. bye |
