A Very GOOD MORNING to all RG members!
Ii otenki des ne? <- Its fine weather, isn't it? Hai, soo des. <- Yes, it is. (I'm learning japanese, so tought i might practice it here & maybe other memebers could learn few Jap words... ) ) Brisbane Goldfish Report; Just like the weather very Dry, mostly due to the lack of interest from Non-asian & asian communities (thats why we get mostly poor quality fishes). Anyway to finish on a higher nooto (note in Jap) check out the PetCity store. They have got some decent Short-Tailed Ryukins 1-2inch for just under $10. I wasted 40mins selecting one but was told in the end they are under quarantine...so have to wait for few more days. They also got one good peice of DragonEye and usually stock decent panada Dragoneye. But the rest like ranchu/lionhead/orandas are usally bad n pricy. Anyway Brisbanites reading this do POST if you have seen anything good going around. cheers. Ken have a quick question for you, my bro is in melb....just wanted to know if he can bring goldfishes from local stores there and how much would that cost....considering u have some experience with Jodi posting ur ryukins from here. cheers |

I think the freighting was about $300 for a styrofoam box (basically the cost of a one way flight). It was freighted with AirFreight Australia and was labelled as live animals / perishable goods.
But if your friend is flying down at the same time, I think can come as check-in lugguage (as if bring a dog etc) How come you ask? Got lobang? ;) This post has been edited by kencheng: Sun, 23 Jul 2006 1:49 pm |

Try Fastway. Its cheaper. I normally ship giant betta from Melbourne to my customers in Adelaide, Brisbane, Goldcoast and Sydney. cost $8.75. Arrive safely without any problem so far. I use styrofoam esky, heat pack (depend on what type of fish).
I could help anyone ship any reasonable size of fish for $8.75 from Melbourne to Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide and Goldcoast. Each label could only carry up to 5kg of load and maximum size of styrofoam box is brocoli box. No insurance available for fish or perishable but cold blooded fish is much easier to transport right now as its winter down in Melbourne right now. I do not offer packaging services but i could help via PM msgs. You can get all type of styrofoam boxes in LFS, fish market, asian grocerries etc. You can buy heat pack very cheap from Jodi as well if you need to transport tropical fishes like me one way postage could roughly carry 4-5 bettas normally. PS: Fastway will not sell only 1 label and would charge for 20+ label which cost $160+. I'm here to help myself finish off my labels and anyone that need it as well, Cheers |

Got lobang literally means 'got hole'? meaning to ask whether you got something good (out of the ordinary / system) to share?

Another goldfish report (I have been k-po around again)
Keysborough Aquarium (Victoria Melbourne) got new batch ot commercial A ryukins. Keenly priced for the quality. Subscape Aquarium got some 1 inch black butterfly tails but much more expensive then Keysborough Aquarium (50% premium). Also 2 commercial 'grade A' calico ryukins and a few low quality Utsuri Domo Ryukins (Black and white but unfortunately got yellow blotches). I considered one of their calico ryukins however almost fainted when he told me the price ($120). |

Hi KenCheng,
Went to New Life on Victoria St today. Saw 2 gold Ryukins with red eyes. $110 each. He said this is a new species from China and no one in Australia has them yet. Have you seen or heard about this kind of Ryukin with red eyes? Go and have a look if you're interested and if your wallet is fat. Thanks for the info about Keysborough Aquarium. Will go and check them out this weekend. Found this address on whitepages, is it right? 2/ 214 Cheltenham Rd Keysborough Cheers, ADSLman |

Yes that is the correct address adslman. The last time i was there, there were some good quality Ryukins. The fish are Malaysian imports from Ipoh.

Hi guys, how we all doing
Looks like there is a sudden influx in Ryukins in Oz. As i mentioned before over here in brissy i found 1inch ryukins, only difference from here and there....you guys seem to get good quality fish. I bought some ryukins but they developed serious SBD once in my quaranteen tank (all dead now ). Im not sure wat kind of ryukins they were, looked closer to being sakura type or even calico. Can you guys tell me, the Gold Ryukins mentioned by adslman for $110 and one by Ken for $120. How big are these ryukins? Would be gr8 also if anyone could take pics of those ryukins.....and post it here. So we all can see the quality of those ryukins sold in melb or any other states and comment on them. I think by doing this we might collectively be able to asses how the Goldfish hobby scene is progressing. Maybe even members can post here pics of goldfishes Acquired in Australia. Just a thought. Plz do think over it. cheers Kinder This post has been edited by Kinder: Wed, 09 Aug 2006 1:32 pm |

Ok, here are some pics of the 2 Ryukins i bought from Keysborough Aquarium. I've never bought this type of goldfish guys b4 so i just looked out for the common traits like nice humps, finnage and body structure. Pls feel free to comment on them so i can better myself next time in choosing ryukins.
1) 2) Sorry for the amateurish pics Enjoy Cheers Johnny |
