How Green Is Intense Green Water? Options

I'm sure by now you have read that green water is in a shade of "pea soup green", "jade green", "sugar cane green" etc. You also know that jade comes in different grades and they are of different shades of green, some almost white! So what is "jade green"?

Nevertheless, I would like to know, in your mind, just how green is "intense green"?

The red bar represents your fish swimming about 6 inches beneath water surface on a typical sunny day.

Please take a guess even if you have never seen green water before but have read about it.

So... is the intense green is no good to goldfish? ie, too green?

after i just change water = area number 1

2 days after changing water with good sun = area number 2

4th day after changing water = area number 3(which i feel is the right intensity)

6th and 7th day = area number 4 (must change water liao)

if hit area number 5, its too green liao....
i kenna once, my fish get oxygen burn.....

anything 4 and above is too dark for me.. i'll start experiencing o2 burns on those fishes with bigger tails if i still don't change in a day or 2

I am thinking of cultivating my green water liao... so I bot a 250W MH light. the bulb that comes with it is 5200K do u think it is good enough to let the water turn green??

I bot it with James from SGReefclub... cheap cheap niah only $60.... and somemore the ballast can use up up 400W MH bulb...hehhehe..... maybe can even boil the green water...

To me, I get ready to change water when the intensity is around 4. Delay for a day and it'll be 5. By then I will most certainly change it immediately. The risks involved is too high. For emergency or when I'm too busy to spend time changing the intense green water, I simply dilute them by drainning 30% away and topping up with tap water. That would last me another 2 days.

My dream is to keep my green water constantly between 3 and 4. This is done by frequent partial water change. I am not sure if it will work but I don't see why not. Grin.

That's a good question and I long for an answer too. A Metal Halide 5200 Kelvin blub costs a lot less than a 6500 kelvin bulb.

I hope it will work but I have my doubts.

its easy to treat and prevent. but does it have a long-term effect?
these last few weeks, i was late to change my greenwater. some of my ranchu suffered from oxygen burn. will it have an effect in the future? perhaps, stunted growth?

U never seen 'oxygen burn'?
easy, dont change your green water for 10 days, then u see. hehehe just kidding.
its like bags of air beneath the skin, usually in the tails. how big are the bags of air? depend on how bad is the oxygen burn, usually about half a rice. do u get the picture?
