QUOTE(nobnoba @ Wed 07 Jul 2004 11:54 PM) What a coincidence! The same thing happened to me on Tuesday afternoon( about same time as top-view ranchu) Here's the story: i bought myself a new thai ranchu, white with red stripe, very beautiful. i went home and left the ranchu to my maid. She is supposed to open the plastic bag and put it in a quarantine tub while i go for lunch. i didnt open the bag myself, because i was late for lunch with my wife. Guess what? after lunch, i found the fish float upside down already!! the maid told me that not long after she took the fish out into the tub, the fish floats. SO i thought the fish died, i threw it out. only now after reading all of your posts that i realized, it might just be a shock! its not dead, it could regain consciousness in an hour or so. am i right? Aiyo, should have left it in the oxygen-filled bag until you are backed from lunch mah, normally the oxygen in the bag could sustain the fishes for another couple of hours. Personally, if I like the fish so much then I probably won't ask anybody else to handle it but myself.... |

Below is a link to a web page on how to assimilate your new fish.
http://www.thairanchucentre.com/inf_settling.php There's actually an even better and more detailed instructions... but I can't find it. It was written in poor Japanesenglish but not difficult to understand and actually tells you the correct procedure to move the fish from the bag to the tub. Who has the link? |

Who has the link? good enough for many liao. But Ammonia level at < 2.5 ppm Nitrite level at < 2.5 ppm Nitrate level < 40 ppm I think our local water much better than that. If the bag of water is large, float even longer. I guess one just need to buy a simple glass thermometer will do the job. minimizing pH stress between the bag and the actual tank water, just need to pour in water to the bag after the temperature stablised. another 10-15 mins will do the job. This is good ... Junior - 8 to 10 goldfish -> 60-75L each Tosai - 6 goldfish -> 100L each Nisai - 4 goldfish -> 150L each Oya - 2 goldfish -> 300L each SO those who keep 2ft tank can only keep super junior tosai of 2-3cm max. |

Isn't it nice to do chemistry class right at home ? Your initial nitrification bacteria started well. Nitrite 1ppm ? erh .... what test kit is that ? That's a high alert level. by tomorrow afternoon yr kH will drop further, and raise in your NO2. Be prepare to do another water change again. siong hor ... what's your water to fish ratio ? |

Tetratest 5 in 1. Its the stripe type.
Not sure if nitrite is exactly 1ppm? Quite difficult to read especially for nitrite bcoz very similar colour from 0 - 1. My tank water volume is around 225L 4 fish. Siong, nevermine but must settle the problem long term if something is wrong right? Tolong hor |

Is there also a guide on depth? Please enlighten! Regards. |

Yes, a 600L tub (probably referring to a 100x100x60cm cement pond) Since they are using 60cm height, already an indication that anyone might like to follow lor. |
