Oh ya.. I never thought of that biggrin.gif

Here's an example

You buy system roll
1,2,3,4,5,R

And the result is
1,2,3,7,8,9
Additional : 10

Your ticket numbers 1, 2 and 3 are matches.

You will win:
1,2,3,7 (Group 5: $30)
1,2,3,8 (Group 5: $30)
1,2,3,9 (Group 5: $30)
1,2,3,10 (Group 6: $20)

So total is $110

You win nothing if the result is
1,2,7,8,9,10
Additional : 11
or any lesser matches

So ah...

If you buy system roll
1,2,3,4,5,R

And the result is
1,2,3,4,5,6
Additional : 7

You will win:
1,2,3,4,5,6 (Group 1: $!,!!!,!!!)
1,2,3,4,5,7 (Group 2: $!!!,!!!)

Total is more than winning a group 1 alone...So QUICK!! Buy System Roll is best!!! (Provided you got 3 number hit biggrin.gif)

Aiyoyo no point cracking your brains out to come up with the winning numbers as mathematically it is still a game of chance and the odds are something like 1 in 5.2 million. So if you have 5 over million dollars to spare and you better hope that you are the only sole winner in this draw.... then 10 million is still profitable with a 5 mil investment.biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

in term of investment risk, buying 5 number roll ($20) is cheaper than select 45 board set with only 1 number different ($ 22.5 for normal system). so sometime if the "ling gan" not strong, roll will be a better bet.

Let's hope all the RG reader will share the 10millions. hahahahahahaha

QUOTE(goldrush @ Tue, 07 Feb 2006 4:06 pm)
the odds are something like 1 in 5.2 million.

Sorry friend have to correct you here.Odds are 1 in 5.2 million when numbers were previously 1 to 42.

Now that the numbers are 1 to 45, its 1 in 8.14 million. The addition of nos 43,44,45 seems insignificant, but it adds on another 3 million or so possible other combinations, WITH NO INCREASE IN PAYOUT! mad.gif

We may have been taken for a ride......... rusure.gif but still want to gamble lah! hysterical.gif

Here's how you work the odds out:
To choose r combinations from a possibility of n numbers,
nCr = n! / (n-r)!r!

Therefore 45C6 = 45! / (45-6)!6!
= 45x44x43x42............ / (39x38x37.......)x(6x5.....)
= 8,145,060. tada.gif

So you will need to spend $4,072,530 to buy up all the possible permutations. rolleyes.gif

Err.... what you mean?

In case someone is wondering.... How does Singapore Pools calculate the $20 for the Roll system.

When you buy
1,2,3,4,5,R

You're actually buying:
1,2,3,4,5,6
1,2,3,4,5,7
1,2,3,4,5,8
1,2,3,4,5,9
1,2,3,4,5,10
... etc ...
1,2,3,4,5,45

Total you're buying 40 sets of numbers = 40x0.50 = $20

So whatever System 7 or 8, etc or Roll, it only gives you the convenience. You still pay the same.

Sorry man mathematically sucks.Still living in the past.Yep guess that we all taken for a ride many times over but still indulging in this totolly absurb game.I remembered when TOTO was first launched we had to buy it from specific TOTO booth and prize was a mere $300,000 then.At that time we need to pick 5 out of a possible 49 and 3 numbers would win you something. As the game evolved into our modern games, pools change the game plan to 6 out of 42 with a minimum 4 winning numbers to win a prize. In the past few years again they change to 6 outof possible 45 citing GST as an excuse. This was apparent on the cut back on the payout towards third prize in 4-D draws and consolation payout as well.If u go by mathematics then the odds are increasingly stacks against you far more now than before so maybe you dont see many statiticians or mathematicians playing this game but again they never factor LUCK into their calculation.

So take it away Rod !

Some guys have all the luck
Some guys have all the pain
Some guys get all the breaks
Some guys do nothing but complain.......

Actually, this yearly Hongbao draw to me, is a FARCE.

We all know that payout increases as the bets increases. So by shouting that its gonna be 10 million, it attracts punters to push the stakes to 10 million. Its actually telling everyone to come and buy AND MAKE IT 10 million!! hmm.gif

But,all that being said, I will still buy. biggrin.gif
