Since when it's becoming a moderator's/administrator's job to call up LFS and ask if they have got new GOOD/SOLID fish? And then post here to update on NEWBIES? And then kill the fish indirectly? Which 夭壽骨 say moderators need to do all those other than maintaining a forum??  mad.gif  You pay me 3K/mth to do such thing I would still need to consider ah!  Your fish water I need to change for you or not?! Moderators need to go down newbie's house to demo how to maintain good water or not?

Hey, who's getting worked up here? Why the CAPITAL LETTERS? hmm.gif
I did not misread your post. And I am not the only one here who understood your post that way. OK?

I think you owe the many bros and admin staff here for using the word "selfish" in that post of yours. And you totally missed our reasoning on why we do not share such info openly. Our belief of "It is a sin to be wasting good fishes in the hands of inexperienced hobbyists" stands strong. Sorry but you can either try your best to understand it or, bear with it.

And I would like to say this for the many-th time:
The list of LFS as given by the founder, is COMPLETE enough. WHERE ELSE can you find good fishes most of the time and at reasonable price?

I am now not sure whether we are all talking about the same topic...but everyone is entitled to their own views and I stick by mine. All that I have said must be taken in the right context and no personal malice was intended at all.

The word "selfish" which you have hurled at the numberous bros here is hurtful enough. And I take it very personally (for that, I do not represent the rest of the bros here). It's what I personally feel.

You can share your views but throwing hurtful words is a no-no. hmm.gif

Well, enough said. I will not reply to anymore on this little off-topic issue. Do not want to be guilty of another "THREAD CLOSED" incident.

Far as I can see, this topic has already been dealt with. The LFS in the list posted by HB plus a few more raised by bro Matrix and a few other bros will give enough sources for hobbyists to explore through the weekend. yes.gif

wah liao, so quarrelsome again. i read this on the sideline and again this is the issue on faceless arguement over words and perceived intention.

there is no harm for newbie to ask where to buy good fishes, there is also no "moral obligation" for anyone to answer to the question and direct newbie there. bec the meaning of good fishes are very subjective to different pplp. Some oldies may hold the belief that good fishes may be ruin in the hands of inexperience newbie. sayang the good fishes, but then i am not sure it is ok to sayang the "not so good" fishes but there are no stopping for those with deep pockets to still lay hands on good fishes and wasted them away. Again there are no harm in holding yr principle torch for yr belief.

This is a pubic forum which i believe started with the good intention to share knowledge.

QUOTE(HappyBuddha @ Thu, 02 Sep 2004 09:50 pm)
Like I said, I'd gladly tell anyone where to get a good burger if they asked.  Such a tip can be freely shared but... no tip on good ranchus.

This is a fair statement and HB belief, no need to feel sad. i respect his view.

QUOTE(YLD @ Thu, 02 Sep 2004 10:03 pm)
When can a newbie upgrade his status?
When can someone access to tips on good ranchu?

i think this lies with yr willingness to learn and look at others intepretation on good fish. Go to "academy" and look . ask those who are looking at ranchu in LHS for a long time. They may also be blurr sotong but u have to just hear and compare with the mental image and characteristics of a good rancu etch in yr mind

i used to ask for tips and access for good ranchu. nowadays i don bother. sometime in the weirdest corner of Spore, there may be a gem be found in some ulu LHS and u just have to be the craftman that can see that the stone could be a diamond. the satisfaction is better than buying the best looking ranchu money can
buy.

QUOTE(leogon @ Thu, 02 Sep 2004 11:13 pm)
Not a crime to help direct interested parties to where some good fish are.
One can't possibly buy up every good fish there is, so try being a bit less selfish
*

Bro leogon, u mean well. some bro may take offence with the word "selfish". but i don't. i stress that not directing to good lobang does not means "selfish". some bro just want to know the interested parties abit more before giving specific good lobang on good ranchu. i don mind sharing with pplp openly, bec even if i did, someone may still pick the lousiest of the lot there at the same high price. we have all seen many examples here alr. having said this,
in this commercial world, no one will have exclusive info, as long as there is demand , supply will come. pure economics.

i feel guilty bec a couple of really good fishes did die in my inexperienced hands.
but i learn the most thru my own mistakes.
rearing fish is a hobby, i am like what bro matrix said is the type that want to sit back and enjoy the relaxation of fishes swimming in tank in the evening type. but also want to give the fish good environment and room for growth.

desireless, u also mean well. i respected yr view and belief.

at the end of the day, lets talk fish; keep thread objective and read all threads lesiurely. no rewards/prize for winning.

Knowing which shop carries quality fish is one thing, having the priority the select from new shipment is a totally different ball game.
Some hobbyists offer to transport the shipment from airport to the shop for free just to have the privelage to be the first ones to select.
You have to accept the fact that owners of LFS will reserve the best fish for their core customers.
And in these instances many  customers just confirm the purchase over the phone without even looking at the fishes.Of course the confidence and trust the customers have with the owners is not overnight and the owners deserve their due credit.
So the key word to obtaining good fish - LOBANG!
*

Bro u sum it all !!!

It is sad. It is human nature. It is about business. It is unfair but what to do. If you cant be one of them then u must find your own lobang.

First of all thank for replying.

With due respect, i dun believe one can turn stone into diamond, likewise for fish no one can really turn ugly(subjective) ranchu into a nice one. But i do strongly believe and still learning the skill of turning a not so good fish to a better one and also bring out the true potential of a good fish.
IMHO, a good ranchu need not be all that nice, but at least it must show potential (again can be subjective). when this fish improve or show its potential, the satisfaction is beyond words can express.

i totally agree on the part of learning and intepretation of good fish that is why i visit this forum often.

Generally i dun believe in finding a needle in the open sea but do recognise the thrill of finding a good fish at some ulu LFS.
