helo guys, as above.... will it be okie to use in goldfish tank? will the ph get too high? will it create problems?

coral chips won't be able to raise the pH too high by itself.. main worry is the efficiency of filtration, and toxicty of ammonia, if your filtration is working well.. just make sure your pH never drops below 7.
we prefer baking soda as it dissolves faster than coral chips, and also we change water very often |

cool! sand is good stuff
not sure how fine size 3~5 is, but be wary of it choking (and hence flooding your OHF) as the filter matured. |

no sure how your setup is going to be.
main purpose of sand would be for biofiltration. if overflow and bypass the sand, you wold have wasted the capacity of the sandbed. if i were u, i would palce all plants after the sandbed. so sandbed take care of all ammonia, plants take care of some nitrate. |
