Hey there everyone, i'm new to RG!! and also a definite newbie to rearing goldfish
came across the forum, found it to be very informative and responsive so i hope fellow bros can help me.. good.gif

Recently, i changed from a sponge filter to a OHF for my 2ft tank. Dolphin 808.
The auntie recommended me this special 3 layer sponge..in between got medium one she say to keep water clear...so i bought it

Then i notice the water turns milky after a while..i thought need more time so didn't bother..A day later still the same..so i went back to the shop to confirm that i actually set it up correct..she say it will take 3-5 days..

Till now..its been 4 days..i changed half tank but still its milky..very frustrating..

So i hope you all can give me your guidance..

Thanks ah!!

well, is your 3 layer sponge matured with beneficial bateria?? My guess is it isn't and its currently struggling to convert the toxics into nitrate . have you taken any test kit readings yet to see if there is any nitrite? Typically with fresh bio materials takes a fair while to mature. during these times, you can use salt to reduce stress to the fish.

what is the stocking level of your 2ft tank? how about posting the OHF and the 3 layer special sponge you bought? we might be able to tell you whether its good or bluff.
