How long do you maintain your tank?
cleaning the glass walls of it internally / externally.

My tank has small white "patches" collected at the wall. is it some sort of problem? I often use a tank scrubber to clean the inner walls of the tank.

Weekly. I use those dish washing sponge with a green wool attached.

External ? Depends.

White patch ? Algae lor.

You can do water changes everyweek, change 10 - 20% of your water weekly, don't forget to put dechlorinate.

I do my water changes every 2 days, but some people do it weekly

For inside glass, you can use mag-float, I have it in my tank and it's a life saver, my hand doesn't get wet when I clean the glass.

Once a week I do 100% water change. While draining the water, I gently wipe the inner glass surfaces with a piece of filter wool (an excess piece after cutting a large one to a shape I wanted). It's a piece of cake to rid the scums if you do it weekly. I don't use a household cleaning pad since the filter wool is readily available and I don't have to rinse it to remove left-over chemicals (or whatever) on a brand new kitchen green wool.

I don't use "mag-float" becoz the one I had wasn't strong to stay firmly on the glass surface. Beside, it's good to stick my hand in the water to feel the water.... With experience... you can guestimate how bad the water is, curse and swear when it bites you.

due to the goldfish's waste production ability, 10-20% weekly is insufficient, and subjective to stocking level, a min of 50% is recommended, always BUFFER your water, i would still recommend a 80% change once a month to remove toxins

For most variety of goldfish, ideally a tank's depth of no more than 18 inches is recommended.

Kekeke. The base of my tanks are just slightly above my knees. Thus, when I'm standing I can reach into the tank easily. I can imagine how tough it would be like to clean a tank placed higher.

Remember... no matter how fancy looking your tank's design is, it's a lousy setup if maintaining it is a chore.
