The following is an extract of bro goldrush posting in another thread.

===

Disease prevention tip: To treat bare root aquatic plants use 16 ppm (remember APPLICABLE TO PLANTS ONLY AND NOT FISH at this concentration) for minimum of 4 to 6 hours in a separate container. This will rid plants of pathogens and snails (including eggs). May cause some temporary browning of plant leaves. Ensure that all surfaces of plants are fully submerged.This is where salt fails as plant cannot tolerate any therapeutic level of salinity. However if those guys would like to use natural aquatic plants, KmnO4 is definitely a super disinfectant and parasiticide as well as it carries antibacterial and anti fungal properties (A level 1 teaspoon holds approximately 6 grams and will treat 750 gallons of water at 2 ppm permanganate.) So please do your maths calculation he he he

Alternative:

OxyCure can also be used to disinfect plants if you don't have PP; bath the plants for 15 minutes.
