Dear Ranchu's Hobbists,

I have tried a couple of times to post pictures on my ranchus,for ranchu's hobbists to comment.

But just not my luck in posting.

Anyway,hope this round will work,and I could hear comments before I give up these ranchus of mine.

Just want to know the standard of my ranchus,as I am not ranchu expert.
Am still learning as I just received the 'Fancy Goldfish' book bought in USA.

As I understand around next year jan. 2005.

Pls. feed me more information regarding competition.
I do have a few more 4" ranchu but not so good.

Thanks for your interesting information.
First time knowing such information of Fancy Goldfish - 2001 edition kept at our local library.

Anyway,i have got the latest edition - Second printing 2004.
Which my USA associate just sent me yesterday.
Very interesting to read and very encouraging to own more top grade goldfishes,
especially the pair of Tosakin I have owned.
Very good book in upkeeping of any goldfishes,especially when they are in distress.

How to feed you ? I never like to feed anyone other than my own kids. No can do. Knowledge are learned thru your own passion.

Thanks for your compliment.

I am not really giving up,unless these expensive ranchus that I have bought,is worth keeping.
That's why I asked for comments.
Obviously I will accept majority advise.

Indeed a few ranchu lovers emailed me,asking me to sell them these nice ranchus of mine.
Anyway,I will look into it and decide,as I have 3 to 5 inches ranchus in total 50s.
Recently,my house lady keeps grumbling at me for taking care of my ranchus,more than my family.
Anyway,what to do,since I am a diehard goldfisher lover,for so many years.
That's why when too much of trouble might make one change their mindset.

Coming back to your questions,of upkeeping of my goldfishes.
Actually is simple,only after you have gone through all the trial and error of upbringing these goldfishes.
Not every goldfishes are easy to breed,especially the top grade goldfishes.
If you ask me,I will tell you from my experience,the $1.00 or $2.00 pack goldfishes selling in the aquarium shops,meant for big fishes consumption,are the easiest to keep.

So the if choice is top grade goldfishes(say ranchus) you wish to keep.
Pls. prepare to spent a little more money and time to look out for whatever goldfishes you wish to purchase.
Do not listen everything to those sweet talking retailer about how good are their goldfishes.
Watch closely and observe the goldfishes you wish to have.
If the ranchus are of good bloodline,you can defintely see the little sign of the good hood and tail,irregardless of the age,and whether they are from Japan or Thailand.
Many a times,these retailer's lower grade goldfish without any good growth,will say when they grow up,the the hood will grow,or it will turn out red body...etc.
I have been many a times disappointed with these retailers advise before,and I have learnt these painful lessons.(even good food is given)

If you could get a good bloodline goldfishes,no matter what you feed,as long as you maintain the basic cleaniness of water.preferably in green water with morning sun.
It will turn out good.
Obviously,if you provide them with good food,like the quality bloodworms,additional protein,wheat germs....etc.
It will defintely turn out to be a champion,as most farm breeders do.

Nevertheless,I am just giving you my piece of experiences.
Right or wrong,obviously is for you to decide.

Since you are so knowledgeable about books/articles on Goldfishes.

Could you recommend me where to purchase Japan Ranchu magazines,selling in Singapore?
Likewise,if there is any proper english connection of Japan Ranchu Magazines mail order,pls. keep me posted too.
Plenty of websites on Japan written ranchu magazines especially mail order.
But do not understand their lingo.

Hope you could give me a good loophole.

This is a so true statement, lucky for me to know it before paying the fees.

umm , i thought my question was fairly straight forward and simple to understand, apparently not. what i meant was how do YOU keep your fish? using green water/clear water, filtration or not, what food are u feeding. etc.
i wasnt expecting the general assessment that you gave me just now.

Sorry that I may have overbored you.
Problem is I enjoyed being detail in describing my past experience.

As I have mentioned,I am using morning sun only,as for the green water.
Anything dark green,immediately change 30-50% water.
Food JRL,Hikari pellets,froozen bloodworms,little wheat germs.
Normally I controlled minimium feeding with mixture of everything.
Blood worms feeding on weekends only.

Hope you will be happy with my short and sharp formulas.

Anyway beside this,perhaps because of your message,I received a few messages yesterday and today,asking me to sell them those ranchus that I have attached.

Must thank-you somehow or rather,for making my day.

Dear Melvyn,

I do not want to spoil your fun, but I think these Ranchu are not good because they have very weak tails. And the tail is the most important part when evaluating Ranchu. I also think that the angle of the tail to the body is not good. They all hang with their heads down.
They do have a very good colour, scales and hoodgrowth. The bodies should be longer and stronger.
