Whaaat?
Self-moderation has always been in place.
You decide if a behaviour is acceptable.  File a complaint if you feel otherwise.

Ah Tan... Simi? So long as the posts do not lang-gar with the forum policy, they will be appoved. What do you expect from these fishes? What else you expect us to do? Edit those posts to make them sound nicer?

whoo...i peacekeeper UN hat .....hold yr horses and missiles, one old man once said and i quote:

" Forum Posting Guidelines
Everyone is entitle to his or her own opinion, and you can choose to agree or disagree. We ask, however, that you be courteous in your disagreement and present your counter-views amicably.
When you choose to take issue with someone else's comments, do so by drawing your attention to the issue and NOT on the individual. Leave personalities out of discussion. Any post that attacks the individual will be deleted and repeat offender's account will be put on moderated posting mode.

Everyone is entitled to their rights to protect information they deem private and confidential. You cannot demand anyone to tell you anything they do not wish to disclose. However, it's bad net etiquette if you choose to leak a little information to tempt, impress, or otherwise. "

i also guilty at times. but who else to delete the email other than the moderator.

Ah Tan, please do not confuse the general forum guildlines with GA's.

I don't see what one can learn from GA should everyone say nice things about a lousy fish. My opinion is: Criticisms should be precise and just. No point decorating a negative judgement. In the end, the owner might mistake the nicely-worded criticism as a praise. Then everything would be good and nice... what's left to learn?

This is why the anonymity of GA. You can't see the owner of the fish. So there's no need to "give face" when leashing out criticisms. In the case when someone makes a wrong assessment, there will always be someone else to disagree. As you can see from comments on these 3 Leong's fishes, not a single one is positive. Why is this? What does this tell you? Think about it.

I quote from cpiw2002's post: it is advisable that you post your fish which you think is nice or better still, your BEST fish. So that when some bros can still find fault with your selection skill (which you thought you have already perfected), you will feel very enlightened - you can further improve on your skills. It serves no purpose if you post a lousy fish, WHICH YOU ALREADY KNOW, is lousy. What's the point of doing that? There's no new thing that you can learn from this act, because every criticisms that you received is what you ALREADY KNOW! Understand here? I would feel the same as cpiw2002: that I have been taken for a ride. You see, here I am writing up my assessment on your fish which I thought would help you polish up your selection skills, but there you are reading and sniggering "Huh, I already know that... what's new?" In the end, what new things have you learnt? Nothing. It's wasting time and effort.

Lastly, it doesn't mean that we are practising "double standards" (as some cuttlefish guy has mentioned in another forum before), when you find that the culture of GA does not match that of the forum's policies in general. You have to understand why this special sub-forum "Goldfish Academy" was set up initially. Without this GA, everyone can post their fishes in "Fancy Goldfish", like in the past. Then every other member would try not criticize on a friend's fish, try to say nice things about a lousy fish, mince words, hold back comments, etc. RG members can never learn nor improve this way.

不要酱啦. cry.gif

I was sharing how I interpreted that pic when i saw it, and not anything about your comment. bash.gif

My point was no matter how nice those fish could have been, they won't be nice for long.
