There are many types of medicine in the market that can treat gill flukes efficiently. There's no point going for only one type of medicine and delay treatment.
PP will still be my best recommendation. Both effective and cheap. |

Hi CyberET
Will try the Koi farms. Thanks. Agree with u delay is bad idea had got hold of PP and will monitor my gfs a few more hours to confirm my suspicion before endorsing any treatment. Will still hunt for Prazi pro as I come to understand that it has less detrimental effect to the BB in my tank and not as harsh as alot of medication, dunnoe if its true tho. Thanks. |

QUOTE(CyberET @ Tue, 22 Mar 2005 6:14 pm) Indeed a very sound advice. The fact is when I was a super green newbie, I followed the must have list found here. Well the fact is salt used a few times, especially on new QT. JYP unopen, interpet range unopened. If you are doing things right for the water, the fish will be fine. |

I only stock up on salt.
Only recently stock up PP (in the form of 1 bottle "Super Disease Away") due to the revolution. I normally carry out salt dip as the first line of defence, and so far have not needed to reach out for a second type of medication. But the disease has to be in the early stages for the dip treatment to be effective, I guess. Therefore I think it is important to observe our fishes for any first signs of trouble. So in my opinion if you have salt (general use),PP(for external) and JYP (for internal),you would have covered most of the common ailments provided it is in the early stages. |

Prazi pro(Hikari) is a ready to use liquid concentrated Praziquantel treatment that controls unwanted parasites in freshwater or marine aquariums .It treat flukes, tapeworms, flatworms and turbellarians It is safe and effective which does not cause undue stress to fishes and it claims not to have negative impact on biological filtration.
I used Prazi on my kois and goldfish especially newly imports from China and Japan for flukes in small enclosed aquarium but not in large pond(too expensive) . What I liked the best when using Prazi was the goldfish showed no signs of stress, plus it killed all the flukes in the water and filters without killing the BB in the filters unlike pp.So if you have an established system, prazi pro would be a treatment of choice if you do not have a by-pass means and if you like to safe guard your biological filtration system Prazi is so safe that I have goldfish eating it from the bottom of the tank with no harmful . It will also kill any tapeworms and other internal worms your goldfish might have from time to time esp those bros who use bloodworms as a staple. If you are one of those that insist on milder form of treatment prazi pro would be THE ONE (pp is harsh you know............) setting your mind on sixes and sevens always(pp or prazi?????) goldrush |

Prazi cos I am not confident of mixing PP and using it. I rather go for the pre-mixed version... just like me not comfortable of salt dipping...
