At Tunghoi's booth there is a huge ryukin about the size of a volleyball (or Amy Yip's breasts if you prefer).
Heard that it is retailing for $20k. |

QUOTE(cpiw2002 @ Thu, 26 May 2005 11:20 pm) Next is the grosteque, weird looking open category. Not my cup of tea (not referring to lionheads, though). It's not easy for some new hobbyists to understand why some going towards these "weird" fish ... actual fact, these are unique and rare to obtain one. Try find one in any of the farm and u will see them once a year maybe. Introduce them a little okay ... 3rd prize: Long tail Lionhead. New variety developed some years ago. Tunghoi. 2nd prize: Classic variety, dragon eyes wen yu with pompons. 1st prize: Classic blue/brown wen yu with pompons. Classic varieties are usually played by very siao people, becos these fish require big space and high speed swimmer. Cannot anyhow mix with other fanciful varieties. |

The result .... in term of Country of origin of the fish
Ranchu - Thai, China, China Pearl - Singapore, Singapore, Singapore Oranda - Thai, China, Thai Dragon - China, China, China Ryukin - China, China, China Open - China, China, China I stood proud to see Singapore bred fish taking the stand. A dream finally came true. China fish still a dominating force when comes to goldfish. Those in blue are coming from 1 particular source. Got money, got fish. Let's see from the color of the fish ... Ranchu - RW, Bk, RW Pearl - RB, RB, RB Oranda - RB, Bk, RB Dragon - RW, Bk, RB Ryukin - RW, RW, Ca 5 RW, 6 RB, 3 Bk and 1 Ca. Black fish never fail to take 2nd spot. But always fail to take top spot. Oh well, like I said before, size is not the final factor. Big fish might not win. |

I have to agree with Seacucumber. The tail for the 3rd prize piece is not even erect. I SSS (spit smelly saliva) on the ranchu cat results. Many other deserving ones in my opinion. |

Aiya
The Big 3(Ranchu,Rhyukin,Oranda) usually no fight one lah If China can PRODUCE 1 billion people they can probably REPRODUCE 1 zillion goldfish for them to select and compete at the highest level. |
