Tee hee..... my husband knows everything about me and my goldfish and my goldfish friends.
Besides... happybuddah is just being nice to an old woman like me. I have 2 oranda, but not very good quality. Sherbert is chocolate, but almost purple looking. Hardly any wen and a few dark scales. I rescued her from death at a very bad lfs. Lucy is my calico nareous oranda from Japan. I bought her as a baby, but turns out she has a crooked anal fin and her wen did not grow out very much. I don't plan on buying any more orandas. |

QUOTE(HappyBuddha @ Sun 22 Feb 2004 09:17 AM) The attached pictorial guide is based on Bristol Aquarists' Society's "The Standard" of Oranda. brother, can explained to me what does this mean - Minimum length of caudal fin to be 3/4 of body length and which one is caudal fin and Fantailed fish, ie fish whose caudal fin is held high, will be disqualified |

Here's a pictorial guides to fins. http://puregold.aquaria.net/pg/disease/technique/fins.html Umarked in the pic, the anal fins (can be single fin) are those that stick out next next to the... anal. Different cultures have different judging criteria and preferences. I talked to a few oranda lovers and they all tell me an oranda's tails should be held up. These are people who prefer chinese oranads. Myself find both types acceptable and appreciate them differently. |
