QUOTE(Maniacholic @ Thu, 09 Jun 2005 11:36 am) can you get a better picture on the tail of the thai ranchu please , and if that's how he holds the tail, with the bent usually I don't think it'll be a very good future specimen since a ranchus tail is very important IMO The chinese ranchu needs a straighter back IMO too bad i don't focus on ranchus as much as I do dragons Hi Maniacholic, are you refering to a "chinese lionhead" instead, which a straight back is essential to be a good specimen ? |

QUOTE(cpiw2002 @ Thu, 09 Jun 2005 1:29 pm) Off topic but I believe that temperature is the controllong factor with regards to dissolved oxygen (DO).That means by increasing aeration will not increase DO unless water or room temperature is lowered. So I suggest maybe turn on the air-conditioner in your fish room for 24hrs if you want to maximise DO Yo CPIW or are you from CPIB Dissolved oxygen in the water is influenced by various factors in which temperature is one of them.In our climate and especially in my fish room, temperature can be uncomfortably high.So to compensate we need vigorous aeration to ensure adequate oxygenation. Here is a thread to enlighten you on dissolved oxygen http://www.mellen.k12.wi.us/science/water_...lved_oxygen.htm Disregard the final sentence about gas bubble disease as I'm not running a hydroelectric plant ,neither am I creating a Niagara Falls........... |

This experiment is conducted with no eventual winner in mind.I just like to share with you two different racial specimen of similar build being subjected to similar environment, diet and upbringing to further evaluate which particular breed suit our climate ,our taste and perhaps our aspiration to own which type.
Things that I would like to assess include (as cpiw has spell out) color size headgrowth scalation but also disease tolerance(if there is any outbreak) Gait,Swimming posture Let us not conclude or predict the outcome for the moment 90 days is all it takes and mark this date on your RG calender to view the outcome Strictly NO SNEAK PREVIEW So whether it is Chinese Kung Fu or Thali Boxing that prevails there will never be any MORTAL COMBAT. goldrush |

QUOTE(Maniacholic @ Fri, 10 Jun 2005 1:08 pm) i guess i understand what u meant by straighter back ... kekekeke ... it's one of the obvious different between a chinese and a thai fish other than the scaling. It's straighter becos it has a longer body. |
