I throughly enjoy reading while you guys critique each others fish.
I however do like the comment made on another topic "It is a good fish
if you like the fish".
Don't we all have our own eye for what we think is an attractive specimen?
What's perfect to one isn't necessarily so to another. Nevertheless, I enjoy
reading your comments.  yes.gif

Sometimes we tend to be too frank with our comments. sad.gif

There's a saying Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder. Sure, that's generally true, but when it comes to goldfish, many will agree a person's perception of Beauty can change. Take my first ranchu, attached, for instance. Back then, I knew a ranchu should have a smooth curved back. I also make sure it doesn't have any missing scales, torn fins etc.

IPB Image

I swear I thought it's a beautiful ranchu. So when I received a one-liner reply that the tails is too flat, I was a little ... insulted.

Well well, it took me a while to finally figure out that the comment was truthful. Thank goodness I didn't scream and shout or picked a fight with that person. biggrin.gif

It's a butt ugly ranchu because a decent ranchu should not have a flat tails.

What I'm trying to say is... most newbies are not familiar with how a good ranchu should be. If they're willing to learn, they will pick up cues that will change their perception of what constitute a beautiful ranchu. Be thankful when members here willingly critique your ranchu... if you are ready to learn more. tongue.gif

I would like to say that "in your own view", if you find that the fish is a beauty to you, you buy. If not why still buy. Comments are meant for us (newbie) including me to learn how to pick, view & buy a gd & beautiful goldfish. peace.gif

To me, I will buy if I see it & "love at 1st sight" kinda of thing.
I didn't post any of my goldfish cos I got no digital cam. Hope to get 1 soon & see if there's any comment so as to pick up some knowledge. biggrin.gif

What I'm saying here is, when some1 comment the head not nice, the tail not nice, learn fr it but as long you think its a beauty, its gd enough. Rite guys! good.gif

Hope not to offend any1. Cheeers.............. & Happy New Yr to all of you. beer1.gif

Also does any1 know which type of kitchen salt don't contain silica gel??? hmm.gif I try to check out the content of the packaging but didn't show.

OT, but which country are you from? you meant silicon gel as in those in small packets which are somethings found in airtight products? If so, i don't see why you can't take it out.

Singapore.

Not Silicon gel. I believe it slica gel which keep the salt from sticking together. I couldn't find the thread (aquarium salt vs kitchen salt) to show you. sad.gif
I believe its mix together also.

i have seen quite a number of threads on this topic. i think kitchen salt refers to iodised salt and usually has some kinda anti-caking agent right? believe u r referrign to this?

anyway i just get those real cheap salt from ntuc (25cents for 500g, comes in plastic packaging). these are good enough.

hi square guy, Yes. Tks for your clarification.

Its seems like all packaging does not show what the contents inside rite?

To me I rather get those reali fine salt compare to those in bigger form like crystal.

I prefer chunky rock salt.

I was told that's the purest kind of salt since... they didn't grind it down so fine that you can't see if they added any additive.

I was told to gentle rinse them before use. biggrin.gif

dunno man, o level chemistry ah? if i remember correctly, impurities serves as a starting point for the crystal to form, but how large the crystal can get will depend on the length of time it is allowed to grow. no?

"rock salt is not as pure as fine salt. but rock salt is natural salt which contains some natural impurities. For fine salt, it's purified for human consumption and iodine additive added.

The process of purifications contains some form of chemicals which is not really that harmful to both fish and human. These chemicals - iodine ( important element for human ), edible breaching agents to make it crystal clear and anti-caking agents to prevent it from forming lump. Also purification remove the trace elements from the natural salt.

BUT when comes to cost, it make no sense to buy processed salt."
