Very different leh.

Position of eyes

Size of funtan

Shape of tails

Position/shape of anal fins

No kink on the back near the tail joint

... etc.

Did I mention the tails are nice on the 1st one? And I think the backbone is probably thicker for the 1st fish too but I can't be sure until I see its topview.

even the AAA grade fish from NJ is not very good....
their grading system is such that :

good finage = one A
good body = one A
good head = one A
tailbone = one A

the problem with the NJ fish is the head.....
got cheeks but lacking in top headgrowth....
so the head appears to be flat at the top...

comparing to your fish, its has better finnage, better arch and body.....

Is this really how the thai (and maybe the chinese too) rate their fish?

So a Grade A fish has one good feature out of four... but for a newbie, he won't know which feature is good? unsure.gif

See that slight kink?

I dunno... it bothers me a lot. I was told, not only is it aesthetically unappealing, the fish is unlikely to grow big in size too.

Er... actually there are two kinks or saddles lah, and backarch turn downward at the wrong place. Although the NJ fish is slightly better but the backarch is also not good enough.

Other then what they say, I feel the other stronger difference is the thickness of the backbone, look so thick and round stretching from head to tail. The QH one like thinner and flat near the tail area..

Very different ! I will pay only 30 for QH and 100plus for the other.
