Green Water: Not Telling
Country: Australia

Hi guys,

I need some opinion from the greenwater experts here. I'm going to set up a greenwater QT tank, but I also want the tank to be salted about 0.1%. Will the salt be detrimental to the greenwater growth?

thx smile.gif

PS: The greenwater for the QT will be taken from my existing greenwater tub.

the main reason for QT is to allow us a constant monitoring of the fish health and possible diseases development. why should you use green water at the first place where u can't see clearly ?

Exactly... There is no purpose in using green water for QT purposes. If the fish is sick it will collaspe the green water anyway.

And 0.1% salinity will not be effective in the killing of parasites

As for the issue of salt in green water for keeping purpose, I have never tried it becasue there's really no point. So I am not sure what is the effect of low salinity to green water algae. But algae/plants are very sensitive to salinity level. I have ever attempted putting salt into my home tank and my wall algae simply died out the next day sad.gif .

Aiyah unsure.gif silly me I forgot about sick fish will make green water brown!

I guess I gotta go buy a simple air pump-powered sponge filter...the fish is only 4-5 cm long or so.

What salinity level would u guys recommend for a quick salt dip for the fish?
