 Bbq Charcoal In Filter...., is it safe? |

i have this burning question in my head for quite some time already.
As we all know most filters come with charcoal (activated carbon) as one of the filter mediums. My filter currently does not contain any charcoal, only sponges, the plastic ball which filter out large debris and chipped corals. I still have space for some charcoal. So is it safe for it to put in BBQ charcoal into the filter? I don't want to kill all my fishes after I put it into the filter...... Thanks in advance. |

It will not kill but it is just ineffective and space consuming if normal bbq charcoal is not activated and used in your aquarium.Perhaps this link below will make you understand further your question

dun anyhow use charcoal meant for human use. some charcoal contains additives for fast ignite and that will kill your fish faster than starting fire.
 normal charcoal can still be use but takes a long time. spend some money to buy the actual activated carbon if really want to use it. |

what do you mean by 'normal charcoal needs to take longer time'?
