Chiller For My Goldfish Tank, tank setup Options

To all the members. I need some opinions. Do you ppl think, is it necessary for us to have chiller for our goldfish tank? To maintain it between 22-26c. My 4 ft tank water temperature is about 32c on day and 30 during night. I am thinking to get a Resun CL650 chiller. Any comment on this item? I have a pair of 19cm oranda, a 16 cm lionhead and a 21cm ryukin in my tank. A chiller is a necessity or luxury for our goldfish????

Don't think is really needed. If you insist on having one to cool down the temp, I suggest you get a fan, cheaper and more economical plus it gives better areation to your goldfish.
goldfish can adapt to wide temp range, but not too much of flutuation.

Just be careful when u change water. turn off chiller and raise the temperature of the water naturally, probably overnight. change water and turn on the chiller again. but that will make your fish spawn pretty quickly if u got a mature female.

4ft tank for so many big fish will not allow the fishes to cope well. Do consider a larger tank or use another tank to separate the fishes. A pair of 19cm oranda in a 4ft tank is very elegant leh.

Higher aeration or water circulation will help to lower water temperature not? . If there are any better way to bring down the temperature? or is ok for to keep goldfish around 30C.. You can try to use a water pump with rain bar. set the bar higher. this might help to bring down the temp.

If relocating your tank to a cooler (shaddy or air-conditioned) place is impossible, as already mentioned getting a fan (those specially for planted acquarium mount on top of the tank) is an appropraite choice. For a 4ft tank, you can easily get one (preferably with 3 fan coils) that cost < $50/-

Dun worry so much about the temperature. Just ensure aeration is strong enough to support the living organisms.

Louis,just curious.Is your tank outdoors or indoors?To reach 32C outdoors during day is common, but whether outdoors or indoors, very strange to have water tempearture of 30C during the night.

but why having nice fish (giant tunghoi fish) = lower temp = having chiller.
are u trying to simulate the seasons for breeding purposes?

Firstly, a very big thank for u ppl.
My tank is in indoor. No i'm not into breeding.
I just want to have a better place for my few thousand dollars fishes.
I just acquired them two weeks ago..for CNY....
I have bb, uv, ohf and external filter for my tank. water is crystal clear and can last for two months without WC.( need to top up lah)
So i guess. i have to forget about chiller. Thanks guys

If you want a better place for your few thousand dollar fishes, I'd suggest you do more frequent water changes, at least 30% every week. If you go two months without a water change your fish might as well live in a sewer.

As I see on many of the member posts , a cooler water temperature will actually bring out the color and improve the wen. Just wonder do anyone here in Singapore or Indonesia use chiller to bring down the temperature of the water? It can be for promoting the appearance or to promote breeding. Can anyone here share their experience or comments?
Or any bro or sis out there using other method of lowering the water temperature.

I don't use a chiller however I have seen chillers on sale for salt-water aquariums. Seems easy enough to use however would probably cause alot of condensation in Singapore
