I purchased two young calico svr. Both are blue based - one with several orange patches, the other very little orange. Both are nacreous. The one with orange patches is getting some very black spots. I've never had this happen before. Others that I have owned lost black not gained it. They are kept indoors. Has anyone else had this happen? What can be expected in calico color changes? blink.gif

That's the way with calicos: young fish develop the black spots when they grow up. Usually you can see already tiny black spots on very young fish. They will gain more black outdoors.
They may loose black when they are a couple of years old though that hasn't happened yet to my ~5 year old ranchu.

Thanks Sabine for your response. I haven't kept many calicos. The ones I've had were older and lost black, not gained it. lol. These little guys are doing great.
