cry.gif just come back from short inter city trip... found my 30 cm super red arowana & 2 sakura short tail ryukins died because of stupid aerator... mad.gif the aerator malfunction... now feel very very sad... wanna cry... cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif

Sorry to hear you loss. Don't worry everybody goes through some mishaps in this hobby, that's why we are here to learn from each other.

On second thought I was thinking about this aerator condition. What if we design our aquarium/tanks such that we don't need aerator for oxygen. What I mean is built something like a mini trickle tower.

I've read in a koi.com.my forum that trickle tower is very effective in reducing the nitrate level (I forgot whether it's nitrate or nitrite), and on top of that they design it using gravity feed and no pump, which I think will reduce the cost of electricity as well.

A lot of farms also applies this kind of system to expose the water to air to increase the oxygen level in the water instead of using aeration. I saw a couple of my friend also applies the same concept, because of the failure of the aeration system and also to reduce the electricity cost good_very.gif

super low stocking levels in green water requires no aeration as well.. provided the green water doesn't get too thick

May I know how does the water travel upwards thus allowing it to fall again through the trickle tower if there's no pump involve? Mind boggling and I would like to try it. Do you have the link? Thanks.

Thanks Nanik.

The subject of filtration bores me. If I have my way, I would like to have a tap that drips water constantly and old water overflows out non-stop 7x24. Surely that's the best "filtration" out there. Too bad I think the water bill will be high and the utility board will come after me.
