Hi
I just noticed that some of my goldfish are starting to have white spots on their body (Ich). I wanted to do a salt treatment but I have read somewhere that water conditions need to be optimal. The problem is that I just changed my filter and I am having high amonia levels. I am doing daily water changes until the amonia and nitrate levels stabilised. What should I do? If I do the salt treatment, I cannot change the water for three weeks and therefore there is a risk of high amonia and nitrate levels. And if I wait the Ich will get worse. Can Ich kill goldfish quickly? CAn I wait until my amonia and nitrate levels are stabilised before treating the Ich? Please help, I am confused Damo This post has been edited by Damo: Sat, 05 May 2007 2:09 pm |

Try to treat your fish separately. As for the main tank it is wise you disinfect totally for fear of any remnants ich cysts being left untreated.Recycle the tank once everything is inplace and your fish back to norm

Thanks for the tips. Does Ich kill fish quickly? It will be a bit difficult for me to treat them separately as my second tank is too small for all the goldfish
