recently i bought an red white oranda 6 inch head to tail, Ipoh Breed that now is in quaranting for nearly 10 days. during quaranting, i saw his scale keep dropping. around 5 -6 pieces scale drops in 2 days times.
1st i thought other mates pecking one him. long obs, nothing found. 100% water change every 2 days. quaranting with heater 30 degrees and salt with general aid. then Trichloracide by ARGENT the last 2 days used befuran for 2 days. all with heater and 0.5% salt. i felt on him... belly quite hard and his scale seemed very fragile... easy to pluck off especially scales near the gills plate......why is this? hope u guys understand what i wrote. waiting for replies. thanks. First I must comment on your 10 day quarantine regime which appears to be pretty harsh. What are you trying to treat with Trichlorocide? If flukes, there are safer alternative like praziquantel. If for argulus or larnea,Dimilin should be drug of choice.Trichlorocide being an organophosphate carry too much risk especially at high temperature(should not be use above 80F ie about 27C).I am not sure whether it will cause loosening of scales but it is documented to cause spinal deformity and neurological damages in fishes. As for befuran,it is carcinogenic so don't use bare hands to stir to dissolve the medication.
Treat fish only when necessary ie if you have a confirmed diagnosis and do not subject new fish to a cocktail of medication in trying to rid it of ALL with ALL IN ONE formula. |

JYP? befuran? use heater? recently keeps raining. water temp is around 26 something to 27 degree without heater. what is the caused of a bit bright red gills and wen redness? |
