Hi
I'm really glad to share the development of this Thai SVR I acquired. It was so skinny when I first got it, as it just came from a concentration camp. Sorry for the poor picture quality as it was screen captured from a video. I QT it in a 1.5 ft tank all by itself and decided to feed it after the 3rd day. I gave it 7 meals a day (consist of growth pellets, FBW, spirulina granulat, hair algae from my main tub, green peas), plenty of suntanning and also 80% WC daily. This was the end result after 7 days It's now swimming happily in my main tub with my other 2 ranchus after its QT. |

i never knew u could feed ur fish that many times a day? many times but small meals each time.. i think it is more healthy and beneficial this way.. because there is how much a fish can absorb in a meal, the rest will be useless or even harmful.. small means with interval of 2 hours will be idea.. but also try to let them fast for a day per week to rest the stomach.. they are just like us human... ahah |

cool, i'll try that and see if my ranchu gets any bigger.
cos most of my fishy never grow at all, maybe 2cm that's it. the most i feed them is two times a day, cos i was scared of the tank getting turbid alot more quickly if i feed them alot. yeah simliangyi i do let them fast one day a week, even then i feel bad when i walk by the tank and there all excited. |

The water will get turbid, and very quickly. Thats why the daily 80% water changes are necessary. |

Thanks for the comments and input guys.
For feeding, I make sure this fella can finish his food in 3mins. There is an interval of 2 and 1/2 hours before the next feeding commences. Also I believe genetics also play a big part in the growth. I have 2 other ranchus under the same feeding regime but their growth is not as drastic as this pc. Besides diet and genes, water parameters must play an important part in the growth of the fish. That is something I still need to work on. |
