thank you for your comment. You can find good red,red and white, black quite easily but to get a good nacreous ranchu is increasingly difficult. This class of ranchu shows alot of defects and deficiencies blush.gif .

With good water conditions,if the blacks are meant to be,they will surface and darken over time.

Once again good find. Finally decision will be reserved ....until this ranchu is groomed to its potential. I would like the see how the overall red colour progresses.....over time.

I wonder what would be an ideal red calico ranchu?

If i think about it, for me it should have:

1> completely red body with no calico markings except a large black spot on the back of the fish.
2> And, tiny black spots on the head and of all fins.

is there one?

No molten larva that oozes from this fish
Not quite what I expected out of this dish
Nevertheless it has grown to near 16cm
Colors still a far cry from winning any Grand Slam
The blacks are still relatively weak
Getting it ready for the show remains rather bleak
3 more months before I decide on this candidate
To be a winner you need to have more than what it takes.......
