this "thing" was talked abt, wondered abt by some chaps.
wat is it. where does it come from. Is it any harm? Its Ivory in color, abt 1mm by 1mm in size, and its hard enuff that i can't break it. some of us will see them in the tank floor. sorrie abt the pic, lousy viewcam, give me 2 years to save up for my Canon EOS D-series. |

Can't be dropped scales if they are only 1 mm in size.
I have them on my tank's floor too -- they are chipped off sinster glass. |

we ruled out dropped scales, pearls from pearl scale, can't be chipped off sinster glass, i dun't have them. i took these 2 pieces from my 2ft tank.
some of the ideas that pop by are 1) broken shells from the salts we used 2) some unwanted things in the pellets they eat 3) unabsorbable stuff the fish spit out 4) some unwanted things in the Frozen Blood worms |

I've that things now & then on my tank floor as well, curious at first but I've since concluded it to be goldfish teeth since goldfish change their teeth regularly. funny but thats my guess.

Me too! Saw that a few times in my tank. I at first thought it is the silicone gel dropping off. Then I press it and it feels dam hard like stone. Some kind of bone. Maybe Max is correct to say it is the teeth.

I vote for things in the salt. The idea of Dracu-chu or Ranchula is too scary for my taste.

I use fine salt for my tank and usually dissolve the salt before I add in my fishes. So it is unlikely that it is salt.

User Posted Image It's during water change that I found these too. It's very hard and white just like teeth. I belive it's the goldfish teeth. I'm keeping ranchus only leh. After spawning, can see 1-2 at the bottom of the tank too. Can experts verify that? |
