Remember my catch on National Day, after 1wk plus of aggreesive spiking and doping, here is the result (left pic is day 1 and right is 1 - 2 wks later):-

Fish has bulked and the coloration (especially on cheek) has improved. Note that fish is kept in 1ft x 1/2 ft tub without any sunlight or lighting. It is also sharing the tub with 2 other fishes:-

Agreed with desireless that it has been overpumped....
I also feel that even though the colouration improved on the cheek but other parts, like tail and red patch on the back, seem to be deteriorated....or perhaps it is the picture ?

Dear goh

This fish has not bulked(hokkien call it kiat) but has fatten only through grossly distension of its lower abdominal area.If you were to look at it from the top,I'm sure it shows a pot belly effect(very much like a pearl scale tikus)Because of its ballooning effect over a short period, the color pigments may not be able to keep pace with its expansion and thus a relative loss of color is inevitable.Cut down on its number and amount of feeding and let it growth proportiontely if not over pumping may cause premature death(intestinal enteritis)or some irreversible damages (hokkien pua siew)

Express pumping may soon lead to express dumping of your beloved pet hmm.gif

Goh, the stomach is still sagging a lot.
IPB Image

You must keep in mind there is a limit to how much a goldfish can grow within a given period of time (with ample space for growth). When a ranchu grows fat, you see it most obvious from top hence most TVR keepers practise "controlled feeding". I would think that it should also be applicable to SVR, but with lesser strictness.

So before the "irreversibles" set in... time for slimming laugh.gif

In this case, is there any cure? Stop feeding for another 2 weeks or what? The stomach doesn't seems to slim down much.
