Goldfish's "teeth"!

Copied from here

"Goldfish do not have nice teeth like the ones you and I have in our mouths,
but they do have small bony tooth-like structures fused to their jaws,
pharynx (works to grind up the food before entering the esophagus), and
gill rakers (bony structures next to the gills that help to catch food that
comes through the mouth) which serve similar functions."

So I guess if you stick your finger deep into to reach the goldfish's throat, they CAN bite you. biggrin.gif

I'm not suggesting those white thingy are teeth that dropped out... what they are is still a mystery to me.

Look moutain, if you close this topic now you will forever be kept in the dark.

Let me share with you an extract from this book titled Fancy Goldfish. There is a small paragraph on page 105 and it goes like this,

'Goldfish don't have teeth embedded in thier jaw as some fish do, but they have what are called pharyngeal teeth situated far back in the mouth. these teeth are shed & replaced throughout the life of the Goldfish'.

It can't be salt becos I don't use them at all, yet.....
