4 Orandas On 30g Tank., Water quality - 3days old New Tank Options

I currently have 4 orandas on 30G tank, they are about 1" in size excluding tail. I'm new to caring for goldfish since I've always had Betta's (still do actually). I've spent great time on this forum since its very informative and very helpful to new goldfish owners like me. But of course, as a new concious new owner I had a much more specific question:D I know that Oranda's are know are fancy fish and are also know to be very very missy. My concern is, I've monitored my tank which is 3 days old, by doing water check every other day, as I've read on this forum. My Ph 7.6 seems consistent, Ammonia 0.50ppm which has also stayed conistent, but my [b]Nitrite had spike up today, it was 0.25ppm the day before but today its 0.50ppm[/b[b]], Nitrate however stayed 0ppm. Is it time for water change? 50% or less. Or is this because my filter has not yet develop BB,and since my water hasnt cycle yet. I know it take 2-4 weeks for a tank to be cycled. But I dont want my fish to die either due to toxic level. I appriciate all the responses.

Nitrates 0 means tank not fully cycled yet. Do water change to remove ammonia and nitrite ; preserve the filter medias to cultivate bacteria.

Thanks for the quick reply. Should I do 100% WC or 50%?

50% change for a start, maybe twice a week. Monitor for presence of nitrates; once present ammonia and nitrite should be near zero then change water when nitrates hits around 50ppm.

I was so worried so I did 80% water change, also did some vacuum on gravel. I still could see some waste floating around but I didnt want to overly vacuum. I will go ahead and do another 50% Sun and hopefully this will lower the Ammonia and Nitrate Thanks for all your help CP

UPDATE: My 30G is finally cycled. The last time I check my water each results came back with normal readings. I now also added four live plants on my tank . Just to see how my boys and girls would react to them, had them for 2 weeks now they seem to adapt to it . Although I have notice that they tend to mounch on them That a good thing I supposed after all they do needs some greens in there system. Also change my water wand to Airstone to aerate the water much better and I actually think it was the best decision I made , It has much more bubbles. I have also added some brine shrimp to their diet, alternating between flakes and brine shrimp. If all goes well with the live plants I'm considering to buying more.
