much lesser nowadays with places like Darwin in the spotlight.....hehehe..

probably it goes this way (per month)

Hikari Lionhead x 3 = $20.70
Hikari Wheatgerm x 1 = $5.00
Chroma x 3 = $15.00
Genesis x 3 = $12.00

total = $52.70

on a 3 month basis Hikari 32 cube BW one box = $10.50

well tats about it.....
maybe add $10 per month for water bill lor.....

I used to spend a lot on Genesis, and opted for anti-chlorine crystals because it's good and cheap.

Genesis $7 / 7,500 = $0.09 per 100 litres
Crystal $5 /10,000 = $0.05 per 100 litres

Now that Genesis only costs $4 at Darwin, it's as cost effective as crystals! Amazing.

Genesis $4 / 7,500 = $0.053 per 100 litres

Is it a good idea to overdose by 4X? I normally overdose by 2X and so far so good. The figure of 7500 litres for a 4 fl oz bottle is given by Genesis. Yes, I still use Genesis when I want to dechlorinate a small volume of water such as for a QT tub, or an enamel basin etc.

I adopt the 4x method for Genesis leh. It say 1 drop per gallon.
1 gallon almost 4 litres.
Then 4x dosage for USA-to-Singapore water standard

So I am using 1 drop of Genesis per litre of water
Is this correct, no?

I have realised my fishes nowadays quite listless after water change. I suspect the water got problem... maybe my anti-chlorine too much or too little... How about rest?

As for maintainance wise, I spend about
Hikari x1 - $6.90
Chroma x1 - $5.50
Tubi - $8
Genesis 1/2 - $2
Medication - $12

Almost $35 per month ah

I have came across bros saying the same thing but myself have not experience it. If anything, the fishes are probably more active after water change.

Did you adjust or equalize the pH?

Maybe you can try dosing Genesis correctly, or at most by 2X?

The only time I find my fish listing after water change is when the water temperature difference is too great, but they snap out of it within 15-20 minutes. So I always make sure the water temperature is the same before and after, sometimes I even use ice cubes to bring it down quickly when I change water on a hot day.

fish sian sian after water change could either indicate water problem, or the fish gills having problem..

Almost 4 times per week. 50cent per buy to last one day. Of course must wash the worms before feeding. Maybe wash not enough, but this is by far the best food at pumping fishes up.

The PH I leave as it is coz AMK water almost 8.3 or more. Already got buffer. So I don't adjust. Problem I think is whether I have added lesser than or more than the correct dose of Genesis. Is there a website of PUB on their update on water maintenance or something? Maybe when they add more chlorine or chloramine and I didn't know. Few LFS in my area experiencing the same thing also...

pH 8 is not an indication there is buffer, buffer and high pH r two seperate things, have u used a kH kit to reconfirm your tap water's kH?

if u r feeding live worms, u better buffer, and change water very frequently, plus regular salt dips

So I have a misunderstanding of buffer blush.gif I always thought buffer means setting the PH higher so it takes longer for PH to go down to below 7 and then to PH crash... tongue.gif

I thought you understood "buffer" from the former thread

http://www.rafflesgold.com/forums/index.ph...hl=buffer&st=15

I remember you told me you are EE guy right? Buffer is like adding a relay contractor.
